If you want to stay in Kasane in comfort and be close to the Chobe National park and the borders to Vic Falls, the Chobe safari lodge is probably your best option and the one we would most recommend.
Most of the time Tripadvisors ratings seem much higher than ours but this time we could easily agree 100% with them. This lodge is not in the Park itself but is very close by. It offers the best range of accommodation from basic self drive camping to very nice river suites, all in a beautiful large garden setting.
Most of these larger lodges can be hit and miss with food etc. but this one is the most consistent and we have no hesitation in recommending Chobe Safari Lodge as the best and most reasonably priced place to stay in Kasane.
A couple of great bars are right on the Chobe River and enough variation in dining goes really well with their day trips into the Park and the sunset boat cruises.
Kasane, although being a town, is still quite wild and you may well see herds of elephant moving down from the hills and through the town on their way to the river. It is however the Chobe National parks here that hols the wildlife interest.
The Chobe River Front is teeming with buffalo and elephant. Away from the river is mile upon mile of dry land only dotted with waterholes, therefore the river is an absolute haven for the game that needs it. As ever, if there is a large presence of game, there are large numbers of predators, mostly lion.
On the flats around the river area, aside from the normal game, the more interesting antelope you may see are good levels of red lechwe, the similar looking puku and the rare Chobe bushbuck. To the southern end of the chobe rover area can be found good numbers of roan and sable antelope, and if you are lucky, more inland you will find eland.
Birdlife, as expected on the river area can be spectacular and you may see birds that may be more difficult to see elsewhere such as African skimmers, spoonbills and giant kingfishers. Together with a surprising array of raptors, the Chobe river front area is a stupendous location for birders.
Chobe Safari Lodge is situated in Kasane on the banks of the Chobe River and shares a border with Chobe National Park. Right on our doorstep is the meeting of four African countries: Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Chobe Safari Lodge therefore offers an excellent getaway location to Chobe, Victoria Falls or Caprivi.
The close proximity to Victoria Falls International Airport, Livingstone International Airport and Kasane International Airport makes us easily accessible, with daily road transfers or charter flights connecting all these airports with Chobe Safari Lodge. The lodge has been recently renovated; matching a magical lodge experience to the spectacular game viewing.
The newest additions to Chobe are our 46 safari rooms. Individually decorated, they offer every comfort. Each safari room affords our guests the luxury of air-conditioning, luxurious en-suite bath and shower facilities, as well as satellite TV, and telephone. The Safari rooms enjoy expansive lawns which form the banks of the Chobe river. Each room has its own patio that gives one the privacy of enjoying views of the river from the comfort of your own room. The rooms are also in close proximity to the main complex.
The north east facing luxurious twin-bed river rooms are air-conditioned and offer the convenience of phone, TV and large en-suite bathrooms. Family rooms include two twin bedrooms. Our wing of river rooms are attached to the main complex via down stairs corridor or upstairs viewing deck.
The river room complex also has it’s own riverside garden where guests often take time to photograph the resident monkeys and mongoose. Both our upstairs and downstairs units also enjoy their own private patios.
