A welcome additions to the Machaba family tree.
Gomoti Plains Camp is a brand new camp opened in 2017 situated in a game rich environment in the Okavango Delta. This private reserve has been waiting for a decent camp to open and Gomoti provides in bundles.
As with the other camps in this progressive group, the styling and services are assured, offering a brilliant traditional bush camp feel at a more reasonable price than its competition.
The area does have the benefit of great wildlife and also a fair bit of water so this should be a great camp for game drives and mokoro trips.

Overview
The Gomoti tree is locally known as the water fig and grows alongside waterways in the Okavango delta. It’s a smallish tree which sometimes grows no bigger than a bush. The Gomoti trees line the waterways and provide excellent cover for nesting water birds such as herons and storks.
Situated on the edge of the Gomoti river system is Gomoti Plains Camp. This camp camp has 10 luxury tents which include 2 luxury family tents and 8 luxury double tents, all with en-suite bathroom facilities.
Built in a similar style to our signature Machaba Luxury tents, the Gomoti Plains tents and main area are slightly raised on wooden decks overlooking the Gomoti river system.
Borrowing very heaving from its group camp leader, Machaba, Gomoti’s main lounge and dinning area form the central point to all the accommodation which fan out beside it.
Accommodation quite cavernous in size and made from grey canvas and steel poles. Each tent as standard has a small seating area outside with chairs for you to relax in and a table and a canvas washbasin to wash you hands in. Through a large zipped doorway (in traditional African bush camp style) you are led into the main area comprising of a large room with a very large “campaign” style steel bed. Grass matting covers most of the floor and there is a lovely writing table, lamp and chair together with a beautiful soft armchair.
A canvas slipway to the rear leads you to the large ablution area with unusually designed his and hers wash basins with his and hers leather-clad hanging mirrors. Also in this area is a good sized internal shower and toilet. There is also a doorway that leads to a lovely and unique outside shower… unique as in the shower’s effect is that it passes through a bucket… those of us who travel to the bush often, know exactly what a bucket shower is!
The family rooms are simply vast, with two adjoining tents with a lounge area in the middle with sofas etc…
