The beautiful Kiri is the flagship lodge of the Machaba group, who also own and run the Machaba lodge in Khwai, and also Gomoti Plains in the same concessions as Kiri.
This relatively new safari group has a long a tested history in the safari business with previous associations with some of the oldest lodges we have here… and some of the most expensive… They have now stamped their mark again with an affordable and beautiful concept in some of the best location in Botswana and also Zimbabwe.
Kiri is a step up in terms of luxury. A gorgeous sweeping lodge with superbly ordained rooms, large on comfort and size… they have yet again managed to maintain that feeling of being close to the very nature you are visiting.
Located on a seasonal Okavango channel, this area is a delight to behold.
Wildlife
This wild and pristine area has over the years produced some phenomenal wildlife encounters including the filming and studying of the African wild dog packs which inhabit this area.
Rather boringly known as NG32, this region is actually part of the “Chitabe Belt” and shares the same wildlife strength as some lodges which have had the strongest game viewing reputation for many years.

Overview
Kiri Camp is named after the Kiri channel which flows passed the island on which the camp is situated. The camp is raised on wooden decks to give one a view of the mighty Kiri floodplains which stretch out in front of the camp. The luxury tents are designed to incorporate the surrounding ebony forest under which the camp is situated. The use of wood, canvas and reeds are primary to the architecture of this stunning camp.
Kiri Camp offers a combination of both game drives and water activities. Based on a private concession, these activities will take you to some of the more remote areas in the delta, previously inaccessible. A motorboat ride during peak flood times promises to enthrall you and captivate you, with the chance of seeing iconic wildlife from the river. Glide on quiet mokoro’s through the water lilies and view wildlife from below as you sail along at water level height. The wildlife in the Kiri area is diverse and plentiful, renown for its lion and buffalo interactions and rare wild dog numbers.
As Kiri Camp is in a private concession, off road and night driving are allowed, as are armed nature walks through the surrounding islands with knowledgeable guides.
Room Description
Similar to accommodation of its sister lodges, the rooms here are more than big… long and flowing luxury tented accommodation with a gorgeous style in furnishings.
The beds are sumptuous and site centrally in the long and narrow layout.
Natural woods line the ear of the rooms which completely open out to the front for a wide vista, from where you can walk out onto a pretty large private verandah.
Mordern interiors include a stunning indoor/outdoor shower and bath area
The two huge family units have separate bedrooms which can be sectioned off from each other, with a lounge area in the middle.
