The Camp

Camp Overview

Moremi Crossing is a new 16 tented camp built on a palm fringed island surrounded by the Moremi’s game-rich seasonal floodplains and overlooking Chief’s Island.

Moremi Crossing is a new style safari camp combining luxury with simplicity. This is a 100% eco-friendly development featuring the latest in solar and waste disposal technology. the camp and its near neighbour and sister camp, Gunns Camp, is leading the way in making the Okavango Delta as environmentally friendly as possible. The camp runs off a massive solar-panel plant, which feeds power to the entire camp.

Hot water is supplied through a state-of-the-art solar-heated geyser system, delivering hot water to each room.

Lodge Layout

The central mess area houses a large open plan deck that has spectacular far reaching views over the Boro River onto Chief’s
Island. This half moon shaped area is built on different levels to give you the feeling of space. Dining room, bar and lounge is
covered by a large thatched roof that hugs the ancient riverine tree line and accentuates its most beautiful assets.

Various small private lounge areas are created for comfort, privacy and spaciousness. Within the tree line you will find a nice shaded decked area that leads to the pool. The whole camp is shaded by magnificent Llala Palms, Giant Ebony, Mangosteen, Sausage and Giant Fig trees.

Room Description

Luxury accommodation in 16 new-style vintage safari tents, each with its own private wooden deck and magical views over the Boro River on to Chief’s Island. All meru tents are large and airy with en suite bathrooms consisting of shower and toilet.

The camp has both a Family Tent and a Honeymoon Tent.

Camp Environment

Located near the most southern part of Chief’s Island, Moremi Crossing is situated on a small palm fringed and treed island called Ntswi which is surrounded by the Moremi’s game-rich seasonal floodplains. Moremi Crossing is a short scenic 20 minute flight from Maun.

As you fly over the Delta you can see the intricate twisting and turning of the waterways and the ever-changing colours where dry land meets Delta. In contrast to the northern Okavango Delta where the waters are fast-flowing and the channels and view is enclosed by high reeds and papyrus, the channels around Moremi Crossing and its sister camp Gunn’s Camp offer far reaching vistas of the Moremi’s floodplain, grasslands and marginal woodlands interspersed with Mokolwane palm islands.
