Nxai Pan Camp does its best to justify visiting the area. Nxai Pan itself is often missed out on safaris, as most people tend to visit the more northern regions of Botswana. However, it is during the rainy season between December and April that this area comes alive and hosts the huge zebra migrations, this in turn attract the predators.
Nxai Pan Camp is a simple, but well finished eco camp in this National Park. It is the only permanent lodge here and is a great opportunity to take advantage of being guided around its fascinating terrain. We think that too many people miss out on visiting Naxi Pan and therefore the chance of staying here in reasonable luxury should not be missed. This lodge is also run by an excellent company with a great reputation.

Wildlife
The area is well known for large numbers of springbok and during rainy season oryx, elephant and zebra migrate to the region. The giraffe are also often seen in the area in large herds with up to 30 in a group. These large herds attract many predators – lion, cheetah, jackal, spotted and brown hyena and sometimes the endangered wild dog and the secretive leopard. During the rainy season, birdlife here is prolific, many species being different to what one would see in the Delta – it is definitely a birders paradise.
The desert properties make a perfect contrast to the Okavango Delta and Northern Botswana regions, a great way to start or round off any trip.

Overview
Nxai Pan Camp is located on the western edge of the fossil pan from which the camp takes its name. The camp faces east over the open grasslands of the pans and accommodates a maximum of eighteen guests in thatched units specially designed to provide a constant and comfortable temperature throughout the year, when seasonal temperatures can fluctuate from below freezing to well over 45 degrees Celsius. Excellent game viewing is possible from the comfort of your rooms as the water hole in front of the camp draws a multitude of mammal species.
Activities offered at Nxai Pan are game drives, day trips to the famous Baines’ Baobabs and Khama Pan, star gazing, as well as nature walks with Bushman trackers.
This is a unique lodge and in many ways it is different to its more traditional counterparts in the Delta. Nxai Pan camp was opened in 2009 and is the only permanent camp situated within the Nxai Pan National Park.
The long curved thatch structure has a solid wall to the rear but is open to the front and utilises the decking outside perfectly to create a very open air feel. The structure itself curves around a feature sandy fire pit area outside that has chairs for you to relax and enjoy the spectacular evenings in the this unique region. The whole lodge looks out over the short grasslands of the Pans.
The inside of the main area is very light in colour and reflects well the environment it sits in. Light coloured wooden furniture is placed around the interior, which has a simple bar at one end and a long dining table at the other. Exiting the lodge to the right takes you out to the decking area that includes a small plunge, a real welcome relief to the heat of the day.
