This Enclave is the smaller sister of the main Shinde lodge next door… and runs itself as a truly separate camp, with its own private main area and outside area. Its really designed for one group.
Like the main Shinde, this Enclave was completely rebuilt in 2020 and offers seriously good access to this exceptional wildlife area.
Besides the elephant, a wide variety of other game frequent the life-giving force of the Delta, including impala, lechwe, hippo, crocodile and lion.
The species you are likely to see roosting here include the yellow bill stork, marabou, open bill stork, darters, cormorants and slate egrets. Shindre area regularly reports sightings of the rare Pel’s fishing owl in addition to hyena, which has also become a rare sighting in this area.
Even more rare are the situanga antelope, which live in swamps and are very good swimmers. They may take to the water to evade predators such as leopards or wild dogs, lying submerged in pools with only their nostrils above the surface.
Rebuilt in 2020, retaining the authentic classic safari style, the new tents provide a luxury experience with a touch of historical charm. The décor can be described as having the best of nature within an authentic safari design – still with the understated, friendly and intimate KDB feeling.
Situated in the Shinde Private Concession, the Shinde Enclave offers a choice of land and water based activities and is home to an abundant population of predators, notably the leopard. Activities include morning and afternoon game drives in open safari vehicles, with night drives being conducted after the evening meal. Alternatively climb aboard a Mokoro with a ‘poler’ and enjoy exploring the Okavango Delta’s tranquil waterways. Motorboat trips, walking and fishing are other optional activities, all to be planned and taken with your private professional guide.
