Safari Lifestyles View

This is a brand new camp as of 2018, and is the sister too Rra Dinare.  They part of a collection which does its best to be affordable and in be positioned the best areas.

very much the sister camp of Rra Dinare, which sits in the same concession.

In a large private concession, near Moremi Game Reserve, and overlooking the floodplains of the Gomoti River, we think the camps reputation for game viewing can only increase as we know its a fantastic wildlife spot.

Its an affordable option if your main concern is the wildlife area and you like the idea of staying in a classic bush camp.

Wildlife

Since this area normally receives floods last it contains some of the closest dry-season watering points for the game that spreads out towards Nxai and Makgadikgadi Pans during the rains.

Around this, there is a high density of game in the dry season but since quite a lot of the reserve is mopane woodlands (a favourite location for animals during the rains and early dry season) good game viewing is expected all year round.

This river system attracts a wide variety of game. Familiar favourites include: Elephant, Buffalo, Giraffe, Kudu, Impala, Tsessebe, Hippo, Crocodile, Genet, Honey Badger and a host of Plains Game. Rare Antelope breeds including Roan, Sable & Eland, not normally seen in the Okavango region, occur here. As the Gomoti is the main water source in the area, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and Wild Dog come down to the riverside to drink and hunt, of course!

The locations and views are spectacular with the classic flooding of the Okavango across the adjacent seasonal floodplains. For those keen on bird-watching, the combination of the wetlands and the drier Acacia and Mopane veldt provide a perfect habitat for a variety of aquatic species including Open Billed Storks, Hammerkops, Egrets, Ibis and forest/savannah dwellers including Raptors, Shrikes, Drongos, Sunbirds, Ground Hornbills and so on.

The Camp

Camp Overview

The Camp is located on adjacent to Moremi Game reserve on south eastern side of the Delta, close to the Gomoti River and its flood plains, the camp is located in a private concession, and has been designed to embrace the natural surroundings of the riverine forest.

Lodge Layout

Both central areas have been built in keeping with our other properties with open, thatched space allowing guests to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings, whilst watching wildlife and birds from the comfort of an armchair or the bar.

The camp is built on decking throughout, even the walkways are raised, this is because the resident buffalo herds wander through camp and often actually sleep right under your room… The walkways do dip down to ground level in places to allow the buffalo free access across the area.

As you walk into the main area, a large dining breakfast area is to you right, with the main lounge area to your left, with a self service bar in the central position…. further to your left are steps down to a large swimming pool area.

A fire pit is well position further out to the front with huge and impressive views.

Room Description

The rooms are almost a classic bush camp style… All on decks with great views.

Largely constructed of canvas and wood, the rooms are very light and airy… you approach from the front into a clever open aired veranda with seating and views over the floodplains. This Veranda is seal-able from the outside with canvas and mosquito mesh flaps.

Sliding doors lead into the main room dominated by a huge and very comfortable bed with mosquito netting and fan above.

A wooden partition at the back of the bed serves to separate the main bed area to the en-suite facilities at the rear. These internal facilities comprise of a large area with his and hers sinks, and an area with shelving space to unpack clothes etc… this area also includes a separate room for the internal toilet.

Double doors lead to the outside where there is a large outdoor double shower.

Camp Environment

The camp, although surrounded buy flood plains, is situated on a beautiful island dominated by huge trees…. its seems like a little oasis to arrive back here after a game drive.

The main area is dominated by a huge tree where the entrance area has been built around it.

The accommodation also takes advantage of placing each room far enough away from each other to be perfectly private and in amongst the trees.
