A Majestic Waterfall – Visit of the Victoria Falls
You can walk from Amadeus Garden; and you can visit the Falls and the Rain Forest reserve on your own. Duration: about 3 hours. Paved footpaths take you to the viewpoints. The horseshoe and rainbow falls as well as the eastern cataract dry up starting in September until December, when there is hardly any water flowing down. Once the Zambezi river starts flooding viewpoint 17 and the eastern cataract on the Zambian side provide a fantastic close up view of the falls.
Opening times of the Victoria Falls rain forest are from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. National Parks Zimbabwe charges an entry fee of US$ 30 per adult. Recommended times are from 9 to 12 a.m. or from 3 p.m. onwards, because temperatures are pleasant and light conditions ideal to capture the rainbows. On full moon National Parks conducts a Lunar Rainbow tour.
Rain-jackets are a must unless you like to get soaked! During the high water period (January to August), approximately 250 Million litres of water a minute crush down 100 meters – that’s why the locals call it ‘Smoke that thunders’!
The Zambian side of the Victoria Falls is worth visiting during the high water period when it provides a close up view of the eastern Falls when in full flood. Water levels in the Falls depend on the rainfall in the catchment areas. Visitors can walk and visit the railway bridge.

WHITE WATER RAFTING
Take on the Zambezi River with the wildest one-day trip on the planet, below one of the seven-natural-wonders, the Victoria Falls. The rapids on the Zambezi are officially defined as “Grade 5” by the British Canoe Union (Grade 6 being commercially un-run-able)! Hang on for a wild ride as the mighty Zambezi carves its way through one of the great river corridors of the world. This is the domain of the “Nyaminyami”, the River God of the Tonga people turned into a highway for rafts.
The best time to raft the Zambezi is October & November when the water is lowest, warmest and at it’s clearest. Rafting operations normally close when the water rises enough to make the rapids too dangerous to run safely. This generally happens in May to June and varies in length depending on the river level. Price US$ 120.00 plus US$10 National Park fee
