Overview

The River Club is a charming oasis on the Zambezi River situated 18 kilometres upstream from the renowned Victoria Falls – a World Heritage Site. Overlooking the river and pods of hippo into the Zambezi National Park, the 11 luxury chalets, with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, are renowned for their spectacular views and romantic ambience. Each room looks west into the glorious African sunset, best viewed from the privacy of the ball-and-claw bath.

Soaked in history, the restored 1940s homestead has a comfortable lounge, dining room, library and veranda where breakfasts and teas are enjoyed. Midday meals are often served in the lush gardens spread out beneath the trees, a Pimm’s can be sipped while playing croquet, or one can simply relax at the pool with its infinite view of the sparkling Zambezi River.

Although The River Club is not a traditional safari camp, elephant can often be seen in the Zambezi National Park and hippo are regularly seen in the river. The nearby Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park is home to an abundance of wildlife including buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, impala and white rhino. There is rich birdlife too, including several sought-after species such as African finfoot, half-collared kingfisher, Schalow’s turaco and seasonal sightings of African skimmer and rock pratincole.
